Greetings to all! this week I will perform for OpenMic Week 100 "Presagio", a beautiful Venezuelan song composed by Enrique Hidalgo and popularized by the well known singer Gualberto Ibarreto. I share with you the lyrics and below some quotations about these two great Venezuelan artists.

Gualberto Ibarreto es un cantante de música tradicional venezolana que interpreta a la mandolina, cuatro y guitarra. Él nació el 12 de julio 1947 en El Pilar, estado Sucre, Venezuela.

Durante su infancia, Gualberto Ibarreto aprendió a tocar varios instrumentos, después de observar los músicos populares del oriente venezolano. Más tarde recibió algunas nociones de música académica de Tobías Hernández y Raúl Bennedetti.

Él participó en la coral de la Escuela Briceño Méndez Gramática, y tocaba la mandolina en la Banda de la Escuela San Antonio de Padua de El Tigre, estado Anzoátegui.

Entre 1970 y 1975, Gualberto hizo sus primeras presentaciones como solista, en los auditorios de la Universidad Central de Venezuela y la Universidad de los Andes. A partir de ahí, grabó su primer álbum para Promus, un sello discográfico venezolano, y también fue contratado por Radio Caracas Televisión.

Gualberto Ibarreto ha grabado más de 15 álbumes en los que ha presentado una amplia diversidad de la música popular, especialmente desde el oriente venezolano, con géneros como: Malagueña , Jota, Galerón y Polo, interpretando canciones de compositores como: Luis Mariano Rivera, Luis Guillermo González, Simón Díaz, Augusto Bracca, Enrique Hidalgo y José Enrique Sarabia, entre otros.

Enrique Hidalgo nació el 10 de marzo de 1942 en el Tigre una ciudad de Venezuela ubicada en el estado Anzoátegui. Capital del municipio Simón Rodríguez y está situada al Sur del estado Anzoátegui, Venezuela.
Educador, poeta, compositor, músico, pintor, escultor y promotor cultural venezolano.
Su obra como creador es inmensamente rica, extensa y hermosa en toda su dimensión porque toca una diversidad de temas que enaltecen el gentilicio venezolano.

Trabajó como redactor en el diario Antorcha de El Tigre; ciudad donde también se desempeñó como Delegado de Extensión Cultural de la Universidad de Oriente. Estudió Letras Hispánicas en la Universidad del Zulia. En dicha entidad ejerció la docencia por más de doce años en las cátedras de Literatura y Arte en diversos liceos de la región. En Caracas ejerció funciones como vicepresidente de la Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de Venezuela, a la vez que trabajaba como redactor creativo para varias agencias de publicidad.
Con un repertorio de más de trescientas piezas Enrique Hidalgo cumple los cincuenta años como autor y compositor. Creador integral que ha sabido mantener el ritmo y el color de una calificada obra musical y literaria que nos habla de esa íntima armonía que sostiene el trabajo pertinaz y acertivo de este polifacético artista venezolano con proyección universal.
Entre sus canciones figuran, "Barcelonesa", "La Carta", "Presagio", "Era Ella", "El Ruiseñor del Catuche", "El Burro de Don Bartolo", "Ladrón de tu Amor" "La Distancia", "Amor Bonito", "Los Amores de Cabré" y cientos de obras que han sido grabadas por grandes artistas.

Gualberto Ibarreto is a Venezuelan traditional music singer who plays mandolin, cuatro and guitar. He was born on July 12, 1947 in El Pilar, Sucre state, Venezuela.

During his childhood, Gualberto Ibarreto learned to play several instruments, after observing popular musicians from eastern Venezuela. Later he received some notions of academic music from Tobias Hernandez and Raul Bennedetti.

He participated in the choir of the Briceño Méndez Gramática School, and played the mandolin in the Band of the San Antonio de Padua School in El Tigre, Anzoátegui state.

Between 1970 and 1975, Gualberto made his first solo appearances in the auditoriums of the Central University of Venezuela and the University of the Andes. From there, he recorded his first album for Promus, a Venezuelan record label, and was also hired by Radio Caracas Televisión.
