I've been away from the #Steemit #openmic for two weeks after getting more than double the most votes I've ever scored on a single song. Thanks so much to everybody who takes the time to listen to my music and share a little #Steem when they like what they hear - especially the judges who bring so much thoughtful energy to the contest each week.

"Paradise" is a tune off of my last album. It's an original song about places real and emotional. I mention Phoenix, Kashmir, Lubbock and Detroit. The song also asks "have you been to lonely?" and "have you been to desperation?"

We travel through different spaces at different times in our lives, and our collected memories and newly discovered experiences blend together to become the actual people we are at a certain place at a certain instant. All of these things inform our moment to moment point of view, and I believe that Paradise is found in the eye of the beholder.

Here are the lyrics:

"Paradise"

Have you been to Kashmir, baby
Have you been to Phoenix
Did you walk a mile across
this space that is between us
Have you read a word that rose
from this ragged line
Oh, baby you remind me of
a brand new friend of mine

Don't think once
Don't think twice
Don't think nothin', but
Paradise

Have you been to Lubbock, lady
Have you been to lonely
Did you drink a cupful of your pride
and feel holy
Have you heard a single sound
of what my song is sayin'
Oh, baby are you glory bound
or were you only playin'

Have you been to desperation
Have you been to Detroit
Did you find the perfect
situation to exploit
Have you found a way to slay
Have you found the perfect consort
Have you found a way to pray, baby
Did you find your passport

Here's the song...
