🎶 Open Mic Week 114 - My Top 5 Judges Selection 🎶

Wow what an amazing week peoples, this was incredible and I'm not just saying that - I was truly floored by several entries this week.

I can't get over the talent pool we have access too, you guys are all amazing and we love you all so much - just keep doing what your doing and so will we!

Now I want to mention Open Mic-er's, Christmas is coming up so if you'd like to join in the festive spirit and upload a Christmas song - we will be hosting a Christmas Concert on Christmas Eve!

Who is we? Well so far we have @isaria, @swelker101 and @meno - and if were really lucky maybe even the wonderful @crimsonclad, I do have to say I will try and figure out times ASAP.

But the show will be a relaxed evening of tunes and conversation, I think we will all be drinking so those who know how the music concerts go - we all have a really good time, so it will be awesome to have you join in now or then.

It will be a combination of live and recorded performances, probably mostly recorded ones cause it will be Christmas Eve after all - but what a way to welcome in the day than a night of shenanigans!

Well I will leave it at that and hope to see some more Christmas entries rolling in, but without further delays - here is this weeks judges top 5 selection!

This week's top 5:

1st Place - @justinzidi - naked

I try my best not to keep nominating the same people week after week, but with entries like you have been delivering of late - it's impossible not to include you in my top 5 selection, you just have some incredible talents mate.

Your playing is spot on perfect, the staccato form of the song is delivered perfectly - then the transition into the open flowing sections is just a great juxtaposition, and of so pleasing to the ear.

If you didn't play this so well the whole song would fall apart, so props there - but as always for me, it's the vocals that really capture my attention and hold it.

You have a truly phenomenal voice Justin, its honestly a little incredible getting to hear it - you display such stunning control, it's just amazing to hear.

Not to mention that truly insane vocal range you display throughout, it was just a breathtaking entry and performance - I couldn't get enough and had to place you first again, just brilliant and incredible can't wait to hear more!

2nd Place - @pechichemena - La Noche de Tu Amor

Pechi Pechi Pechi my man, what are you doing to me??? Seriously man you are an incredible musician, a fantastic guitarist - and a sublime vocalist!

You're the package man, you really have no limits to the skill you display in your performances - I was just blown away but this incredible entry, you never cease to amaze or impress.

I couldn't believe it at first, just the playing alone drew me in and held me there - like I new more and more awesome was coming my way, then boom you go destroy me with your voice.

That composition was truly breathtaking and you did it absolute justice, just phenomenal in every sense - not to mention that transition, felt a little inspired or in honour of John Butler (this was just amazingly brilliant by the way I loved it so much).

A truly stunning performance man, you are incredible and never let me down with one of your entries - I am always stoked when you can join us and as always I want more lmao ;)

3rd Place - @katrina-ariel - Wicked Game

Oh wow what a sublime entry Katrina, I fell for your voice the first time I heard you sing - now you kicked some serious ass with this entry here, I just love your rendition in every way.

Firstly I have to say you have mixed things up a little bit and I like it a lot, there's a softness you've added to this tune - it's a little more mellow than the original.

But you still have those kick ass highs, rather than the haunting tone Issac performs - you've added this clarity to the tone and it gives me chills, it still evokes that chilling feeling beautifully.

I really enjoyed this and knew it had to be included in my top selection this week, not to mention that super long note hold wow - just really amazing hun I loved every damned moment of it, can't wait for more!

4th Place - @drewley - Baby It’s Cold Outside

Wow this entry just hit the spot perfectly, what a great entry and performance - you guys really out did yourselves this week.

Your playing as always is perfection, I also have to say I was thrilled to be getting more entries including you singing of late - not to mention this is the first Christmas-y song I've heard entered, so I think this will be shared on the radio during the Christmas Eve concert show!

I also have to give a little shout out this week to @Christinasings, wow girl you have an amazing set of pipes and you displayed them so brilliantly during this performance - just impeccable skill and presentation, I absolutely adored this entry.

You have both been doing just such wonderful entries of late, this one didn't fail to impress or please - I really hope we keep seeing these awesome colabs, you guys area brilliant!

5th Place - @isabelmetlige - Listen to your heart

What a great entry, I was just immediately drawn to this performance - you captured the emotion and delivered it beautifully.

Your playing is spot on and I have to agree the tempo does seem to be sped up, but I have to say I really enjoyed the faster mode - it added an intensity and urgency that the song was lacking in the original, I think this was a beautiful rendition.

Then of course there is your vocals, you have a really amazing voice - a great range and considerable control, my only note would be to watch your breathing ( it is harder than most people realise and I think this performance would have been even more amazing, if you had a little more breath in the tank towards the end).

I thought that was a kick ass entry and I really hope to hear and see more of you in the future, great to have you joining us in Open Mic.

Everyone involved in Open Mic or a fan of some of our amazingly talented entrants, should know about the Songwriters Shoptalk - it's a radio show that @meno and I co-host on a weekly basis.

During our two hour show we interview amazing musicians on Steemit, we play some of their original music and get involved in all manner of conversations - I'm not kidding here people, some of the topics are so far from the realm of music I often wonder how we got there.

It's an amazing show and I am thrilled to be a part of it, we have an amazing time each and every week - not to mention we share some amazing music and get to know some of the faces behind the tunes.

Ahh see what an awesome week, we have such talents with us - this job never gets old and I never get sick and tired of hearing all this awesome music, so thank you all who participated.

Open Mic's New Discord Server:

I'd like to officially welcome you all to the new Open Mic Discord server, we have been open a little while now - with many of you having already joined.

But it's still a little quiet and I blame myself partly (I didn't know the world of crazy would set in just after opening it up and I just haven't been there to engage with everyone properly or promptly), I hope to remedy this in the coming weeks and months with some big plans we have in the works.

For now it's very hush hush, as plans are finalised and things evolve - you a can be sure you guys will hear all about it.

In the meantime however, there are heaps of amazing musicians already on there - it's a tool and you guys need to use it to get full advantage.

Ask a question, request a collaboration the world is yours - hell even just go in there and play around listening to some tunes in the jukebox room!

I will be trying to make myself more available on the server as time continues, so feel free to drop by even just for a chat.
