RE: Open Mic week 37 - Foo Fighters Cover

Good job! I hadn't picked up my fender in a while myself. If you don't mind I'd like to mention that if you were to practice tightening your vocal pocket it would help. What happens is if you miss the pocket people can't get lost in the song as it becomes a distraction. Also, just so you don't think I'm some random web troll I used to work in the music business a long time ago. Keep play, keep singing and all the best.

Thanks Jacob and for the feedback too :) What is the vocal pocket? haha I think I know what you mean though.

Your voice operates like a sliding riff. It may sound crazy but if you were to play a metronome while playing guitar you may be able to pick up the difference. It's like tuning our ear to know when to extend or pull back. Say if you were using the metronome and it goes tick 1, tick 2, tick 3, tick 4 and you anticipate tick 4 before it comes and you stop your vocal just shy. This causes you to be off beat because of knowing the lines and reciting the words instead of feeling the music and playing off the beat.

The same thing happens in acting when someone knows their lines and is just thinking about the lines instead of just the moment it makes for an unnatural state of being.
