He used to play guitar ... he would make it cry ... and say "excuse me while I kiss the sky"
at the Woodstock concert ... the whole world saw ... Jimi Hendrix and his whammy bar

He started making lots of records playin' rock & roll
and the devil gotta reap another stolen soul

The stolen souls of rock and roll are in the hall of fame
but the one who reaps, is the one who keeps, and it's the devils game

Another legend of rock was born singing "Riders on the storm"
and so he breaks on through to the other side of dimension's doors and Jim Morrison dies

And the L.A. women loved his rock and roll
while the devil gotta keep another stolen soul

The stolen souls of rock and roll are in the hall of fame
but the one who reaps, is the one who keeps, and it's the devils game

The King entered in ... and the lights went on ... Elvis Presley packed the concert hall
He took a couple of pills before the show because the one that he took made him feel slow

That was his the very last concert playing rock and roll
and the devil gotta reap another stolen soul

The stolen souls of rock and roll are in the hall of fame
but the one who reaps, is the one who keeps, and it's the devils game

So the list is long ... and the souls are gone, but the spirit of their music keeps living on
They might have a star ... on the walk of fame, and lost trying to play the devils game

If you make it to the top playing rock and roll
