Open Mic Week 40 - The Bottom (Original)
Morning Folks!
I wrote this song a few months ago. It is a reflection on a time in my life where there wasn't much sunshine. No rainbows. No unicorn farts.
Lyrics:
Spinning at the bottom, It's lonely as can be
I am just a phantom of who I used to be
Lonely nights and dimming lights, my thoughts don't comfort me
As I fade into the black I pray that I don't dream
When the sun comes up tomorrow I'll step into that light
If I drown while the rains come down I won't put up a fight
As I go deeper it gets hard to see
Till the sun comes up tomorrow the Bottom is where I'll be
I don't try to understand the reason for the pain
It's easier to go down deep, no need to explain
What's done is done, I'm having fun, can't you see my smile?
I don't know when I'm coming back, I think I'll stay awhile

Thanks! It wasn't necessarily fun revisiting the emotions from that time period, but that's what was flowing while I was writing.
