Steemit Open Mic Week 62 - Original Song - Blues Man with a Ukulele
All right, friends! I'm back this week with an original for #openmic!
As most of you know, a lot of us have been competing in a little contest, sponsored by our musical friend, @meno.
There have already been some incredible entries and we've only just completed the second week of the eight week competition. I think this is simply beautiful. By the end of this contest, Steemit, #openmic, @meno, @luzcypher, @pfunk, @passion-ground, @krystle, etc. will have facilitated the birth of hundreds of new pieces of music. I wouldn't be writing all these songs if it wasn't for all your amazing support, and I'm sure there are others like me.
I don't expect to win anything, against all this amazing Steemian talent. But if you're reading this, you're the one who's been inspiring me and pushing me to my limits. Keep up the good work, and thank you a thousand times!
Anyway, on to the video...
I have a bit of a complex about my ukulele and how it stacks up to all these guitars, pianos, cellos, etc. I really want to buy a guitar, but I'm holding out (on the thin possibility of winning the grand prize).

LOL I think that firewood box was done for one day of @papa-pepper's Daily Selfie Challenge. My wife, @carrieallen has been doing that for the last fifty-something days, and the prize pool is up to like 1400 SBD, and she's one of the final 11. She's had to do some weird things.

Thanks a lot! I've actually been playing the ukulele quite awhile since I gave up guitar about eight years ago. Guitar playing aggravates my hands and wrists. Now that Steemit's got me writing songs regularly, I'm probably gonna have to bite the bullet and get a guitar. In terms of writing, the uke is slightly limiting.

Ahh that makes sense. I have a friend who switched from guitar to uke because of wrist aggravation as well. Actually, it’s the friend that I’m playing uke with on my open mic entry for this week.
So cool that you’ve been writing music for Steemit lately. I get what you mean about the ukukele’s limitations though. It’s a pretty versatile little guy, but the sound is so bright that it excludes certain types of songs.
I totally grooved with this @chrisroberts! I realized one of my posts was doing really good while listening and I got in the mood to start snapping my fingers to the beat and even do some kind of dancing, haha.
