STEEMIT OPEN MIC WEEK 77 - Dignified and Old - a Modern Lovers cover by @bennettitalia
For the month of March, I've decided to try something a little different. Rather than focusing on songwriting and multi-instrumental production (backing vocals, second and lead guitars, drums, synths, etc.), I'm concentrating on performance. To this end, I won't be adding additional instruments or vocals to my performances this month. I won't be using any software to edit my video sound at all, actually, although I will probably continue to edit the visuals in iMovie as I have been. Also, in the interest of focusing on performance, I'll be doing covers for the remainder of the month.
This week's entry is a cover of a song by one of my fave bands of all time, The Modern Lovers.

I always used to tell people I started writing my own songs because I was sick of mauling ones I loved with my terrible vocals lol. And It's kind of true... I hated my voice and felt like I could barely carry a tune. But then, once I started writing (this is over 20 years ago mind you), my focus started shifting from poetry to songs, and gradually I got more comfortable with performance, because I kinda had to if I wanted to put the songs I was writing across. But even after all this time I still feel insecure about performing, so this month of covers I'm doing is about working on getting more comfortable with performance. Next month I'll get back to posting originals.

Nice. I am not too comfortable hearing my voice, that's why I takes me a lot to do a dsound recording of my poems. But like you said, I need to get comfortable with it. Thanks man.
