Siguiendo con el formato "Drums Cover" esta semana, me he atrevido a realizar una adaptación en ritmos latinos de la canción "The sound of Musak" original de la banda de rock progresivo Porcupine Tree, de la cual he podido escuchar poco más que su disco -in absentia- de donde se extrae esta canción. Sin embargo he podido revisar muchas técnicas y sobre todo los patrones polirítmicos que el baterista Gavin Harrison utiliza en sus composiciones.

Mi atrevimiento viene por la similitud que encuentro entre el golpe del bombo en las estrofas e intermedio con ritmos afrocaribeños como el "songo" y la "guaracha". Quise mantener el patrón del bombo como en el "songo" en los coros y argumentar las estrofas con la sonoridad del hihat con el patrón de la Güira en la "guaracha", manteniendo la estructura de la canción (Parece un trabalenguas este resumen).

Esta interpretación realmente me hizo reir mucho, sentí que mi cerebro encontraba otras vías de comunicación inexploradas hacia las extremidades; cuanto disfrute!

Continuing with the format "Drums Cover" this week, I have dared to make an adaptation in Latin rhythms of the song "The sound of Musak" original of the progressive rock band Porcupine Tree, of which I have heard little more than its disc -in absentia- from where this song is extracted. However I have been able to review many techniques and especially the polyrhythmic patterns that the drummer Gavin Harrison uses in his compositions.

My audacity comes from the similarity I find between the blow of the bass drum in the stanzas and intermediate with Afro-Caribbean rhythms like the "songo" and the "guaracha". I wanted to keep the pattern of the drum as in the "songo" in the choirs and to argue the verses with the sonority of the hihat with the pattern of the Güira in the "guaracha", maintaining the structure of the song (It seems a tongue twister this summary).

This interpretation really made me laugh a lot, I felt that my brain found other communication channels unexplored towards the extremities; how much enjoy!
