Steemit Open Mic Week 90 - El Negro y el Catire (Simon Diaz Cover) by: adrianjordaz

Aquí está mi entrada para el Steemit Open Mic en su semana 90. En esta ocasión les traigo un Cover de “El Negro y el Catire”, original del maestro Simón Díaz, interpretada y versionada por mi banda Tamarindo Chino.

Está canción relata un poco de la historia del primer oficial de caballería Pedro Camejo (“El Negro” o “Negro Primero”) y el General José Antonio Páez (“El Catire”), ambos considerados próceres venezolanos y reconocidos por ser ganadores de grandes batallas como la de Queseras del Medio y la Batalla de Carabobo. En el tema, se narra un poco sobre cómo se conocieron, en qué lugar, las batallas que libraron y la posterior trágica muerte del Negro Primero.

Aunque la letra es un poco melancólica, en Tamarindo Chino siempre intentamos de alguna manera alegrar todas las canciones que interpretamos, reinventando los géneros en los que fueron compuestas originalmente, dándoles un sonido más tropical y movido, y también añadiendo un poco de humor a nuestro show. A este proceso lo bautizamos como la “Onda Tamarindera” y lo consideramos una especie de “sello personal” del grupo.

Here is my entry for the Steemit Open Mic in the 90 week. This time I bring you a cover of "El Negro y el Catire", original of the maestro Simón Díaz, interpreted and covered by my band Tamarindo Chino.

This song tells a bit of the story of the first cavalry officer Pedro Camejo ("El Negro" or "Negro Primero") and the General José Antonio Páez ("El Catire"), both considered Venezuelan national heroes and recognized as winners of great battles like Queseras del Medio and the Battle of Carabobo. In the song, a little is narrated on how they met, in what place, the battles they fought and the subsequent tragic death of Negro Primero.

Although the lyrics are a bit melancholic, in Tamarindo Chino we always try to make all the songs we play happy, reinventing the genres in which they were originally composed, giving them a more tropical and lively sound, and also adding a bit of humor to our show. We call this process the "Onda Tamarindera" and consider it a kind of "personal seal" of the group. Without further ado, here is the video. Enjoy!
