In short you can. To explain in more detail...
EOS is not bought from OpenLedger exactly. OPEN.EOS is still available on the markets on bitshares. Just that deposits and withdrawals are currently disabled during this time. You can't buy EOS no bitshares but rather an equivalent that is exchangeable for EOS. You may check out GDEX.EOS.
