Online Nearly Broke Me

in #online7 years ago (edited)

Nearly five plus years ago we decided to take the plunge into working online - how hard can it be right?

Boy were we wrong

Can't count how many times, I nearly throw in the towel but there was something that kept us going the idea of working around family, having balance and freedom from a boss - others were out there doing it so why couldn't we...

One day going though the local newspaper, we saw an ad for work from home - for a coffee company, rang set up an interview, decide to give it a shop buy a package buy, sell coffee, but you also had to bring others into the company, by the end of it, there was $9k sitting in the back office we just couldn't touch it because we didn't bring anyone to the business.
Was giving away free coffee packets like was said in the company information, was setting up in cake shops giving away free brewed coffees, was going to events to sell coffee which we only sold a few cups, it just wasn't working all the time, all the giveaways, flyers in letter boxes at events, was reaching out to people, business, all on our dime not the company's, that's when we learnt what mlm was, we had to take information we put online down, as per the company you couldn't advertise online apart from the company, but so many others were but we were the only ones that go told to take it down as we asked a question.

Others were building there business up to only have others say they were taking customers from there area to have the company cancel there back offices.

This was not working from home the realization came when doing an event with the kids running around, it was meant to give us time with the kids not dragging them around from meeting to meeting, to events, someone said if your not earning 4k a month from this you better go online.

This remark was enough spark to start finding out how to work online, this was no easy feet, as we just wanted to get some work do it and get paid, but there was only more mlm, a lot of the work from homes was not that, or was not available in our country.

Over the years people we knew were leaving there jobs to work from home jobs, but we had tried everything to trying to build our own website with no computer skills, when I jumped online I was screaming at the computer take me to the internet Thanks to the kids that would whip in front of the keyboard and get me to where I needed to be then nearly finishing long things someone would trip over the computer cord pulling it out of the wall.
Well at least it's got easier and the kids haven't had to help too much now to their delight.

Tried investing in brand new businesses that never got off the ground that go closed down from being ponzi schemes, trying to focus on doing a website, trying affiliate marketing then realizing the same as the mlm advertising for company's that take your customers so you need to find new customers all the time for .10 cents to a few hundred depending on the products you were able to sell.

This again wasn't what we wanted, so we fast forward going thru some so called crypto ponzi's to being introduced to a community that was able to help guide us and teach us alot, who knew how fun real crypto is with out middle men.

This community also introduced us to Steemit you may have heard of them ADSactly, now we enjoy blogging, just need to be more confidant and consistent which is 2018's goal, when you've taken so many hits and seen so many people stressed to the point they land themselves in hospital trying to chase the dream of working from home, now it's not working from home it doing a hobby we enjoy where we can earn gifts, learn and gain knowledgeable information, get out of our comfort zone and learn and think about things we wouldn't of before.

Alot has changed over the last five years the way we think about online, the way we think about earning a living, lifestyle, what we want out of life, simplifying life may not be easy but there needs to be a starting point, right.

With any thing there is so much to learn but if you have found Steemit before trying anything else online you are so lucky to have found something straight away, this is just the beginning of many sites you will be able to gain gifts, learn, grab knowledgeable information in so many different subjects from.

How did your online adventure start out?

I agree so much that in our little neck of the world we can be quite isolated from a good number of online opportunities that float about the place - probably just as well though as I bet a good number are either scams, or the MLM that only benefits those sitting at the top of the pyramid.

Steemit is a wonderful opportunity for everyone I think. I know it is building up my confidence, which can only be good, lol.

I'm not sure if you've seen this yet, but a few of us got together to start a place for us kiwis (and the aussies) to hang out. We'd love for you to spread the word, and come in! :D

It's seems harder to find things in our neck of the woods that are good, at least we found Steemit.

Confidence building is a great thing.

Thanks for pointing me to the discord, hadn't seen it, joined the room now.
The ADSactly discord has a Pacific room which brings us little Islands together.
