The Philippines is the 5th largest English Speaking nation. Filipino or Tagalog is the official language but do you know that we have more or less 175 languages? It seems that we Filipinos speak a lot of languages but our neighboring country Indonesia has more, they have 742 languages.

To date, there are more than 11 million Filipinos working abroad (I'm one of them) and I'm proud to say that we are thetop supplier of nurses in the world. That only shows that we have high caliber nurses that could compete with nurses from the rest of the countries all over the world.

We are also the leading producers of coconuts, shipping off about 19 million tons of buko every year. No wonder I see buko juice here in Saudi Arabia with labels like "Manila Buko Juice" and many more.

The Philippines is the only Asian nation where Christian dominates the whole country. I mean about 90% of the total population are Christians where 80% are Roman Catholics.

The Philippines is also dubbed as the texting capital in the world. the estimated messages Filipinos normally send using their mobile phones every day is around 400 million text messages. Such number is even more than the total combined text messages being sent in the US and Europe. This only shows that Filipinos are indeed very social, they used to spend time with family and friends.

I'm not sure if this is something that we Filipinos should be proud of, but this is certainly a good information to know, the Philippines population crossed the 100-million threshold in 2014, with Manila the capital of the Philippines as the city with the highest population density in the world.

Overall, we are considered as the 12th most populous country in the world. If this is a race I wonder if we can surpass the population of China, LOL, I'm sure not.

Jeepneys which have become a ubiquitous symbol of Philippine culture and art are a unique form of transportation that almost all of the places in the Philippines use every day. In fact in 1964, a Sarao jeepney was exhibited in New York World's Fair as a national image for the Filipinos.

Erythromycin

The antibiotic erythromycin was discovered by a Filipino Doctor from Iloilo, no other than Dr. Abelardo Aguilar.
