Why Newbies Should Create A Steemit Community Rather Than Envying Steemians With High Reputation
you have a concept, is it more logical to look at people doing similar things and get your own space or modestly look for how to partner especially when you are new?
Those words are questions my mentor asked when we were chatting yesterday. Sharing what I gain from my mentor to newbies gives me pleasure.
Which people do you admire most, or which people make you fire up when you read their post? Do you admire @surpassinggoogle, @pfunk, @stellabelle, @papa-pepper, @kus-knee @virtualgrowth or any other person?
It is not a crime to admire achievers on steemit or in the world in general, but I want to let you now that nothing significant was ever achieved by these individuals single handedly.
STEEMING ALONE
Living a lonely life can be boring and you might not have the support you want. As a newbie on steeemit, I decided to grow my follower page, I wanted to grow a list of people who believe me and are willing to support me.
Steeming alone can be frustrating as you do not have people to read your post, people to upvote your post, and people to criticize, commend and motivate you. There is a difference between a steemian who has 1000 followers and a steemian who has 10 followers.
A few steemian have the chance to read your post on the NEW page, as there are so many people posting on a daily bases.
WHAT I DID
it is okay when you are team, a small team you can call yours
My mentor emphasized on these words and I really understand it very well. He said @gbenga it is okay when you are a team, a small team you can call yours.
Steemians with high reputation have a lot of followers and are following several other steemians. This I refer to as their community. Steemit represents the universe, and creating your own continent or country would not be bad.
Instead of complaining that steemians who have high reputation do not upvote you, why not relate with other newbies on steemit gain followers and create your own continent, country or community
Create your own country on steemit; relate and make friends with steemians of high and low reputation just as I’m doing. Do not also forget that as you are creating yours you also make up another steemians country.
I’m creating my own country and I hope it doesn’t collapse. I also give special thanks to my mentor for continually teaching me.

Very good post and very valid point.
Sometimes others may envy @papa-pepper, but they only look at post payouts, and not the months of hard work I have put into this platform and community, the over 18500 comments and posts that I have made, or the thousands of dollars worth of STEEM and SBD I have given away to help encourage others and build this community.
If people want to compare themselves, they should compare themselves to themselves and make sure that they are learning and getting better than they were. I talk about some of that in this video.
Excellent post @gbenga and way to encourage the community! Steem on!
thanks a lot @papa-pepper, i'm really glad you shared this video on my post. it will really be of great help for newbies. thanks a lot sire for taking time to read my post
No problem. It is a great post and hopefully it can help others.
I am glad that you approve of the video, perhaps I should have asked first.
you do not have to ask... it is very helpful... thanks for sharing
Right, that is a rare opportunity Steemit has created, I was not in any social nets before finding them tricky, losing time computer games. This Platform looks transparent, revealing a unique possibility to write to, be read on an incentive base.
It's an interesting concept this "Fame" lark, when I first started up a Podcast along with a friend of mine we had a small following, probably about twenty people who tbf were fairly close friends anyway. I think we reached the dizzy heights of just under 700 listeners but we're not in the big league by any stretch of the imagination. I remember a conversation with a presenter of another show who said "We have about 3000 listeners" pretty impressive aye? Until you stop and think "Hang on a minute, I subscribe to that Podcast but I've not listened for ages, in fact I'm continually deleting shows to free up space on my phone!" The point I'm making is, just because someone has 3000 followers that doesn't mean the 3000 are all avidly consuming the work. I suspect there's a hardcore of regulars (And stalkers.) who interact regularly but on the whole most are following because everyone else is.
I actually agree with you regarding the small fry (I'm small fry too.) habitually bleating about the perceived Lords of Steemit keeping all the mythical glory for themselves. While I suspect one or two may well have had a bit of an advantage by being first through the door when Steemit originally started I'm fairly confident the vast majority have got where they are by hard graft and attention to detail.
For me personally I'd rather have 20 good followers who care about what I and the group do rather than 3000 followers hoping I'd give them time money and effort and probably for little or no thanks either.
Just another quick thought. Do whales have the time to read [lots] of minnows posts? I suspect not, so this complaint that minnows never get upvoted or Resteemed by whales is potentially an unfair accusation.

i totally agree with you. it's better to have a small group willing to support you all the way than a large crowd who just make up figures following you. Thanks a lot for sharing and taking time to read my post. i really appreciate your support
Great post @gbenga .... I just started and that Idea of building your own community is the best way to get started :-)
i hope you are able to build your own community.... thanks a lot for taking time to read my post
Will do :-)
@gbenga Your post is ezactly what i was thinking about. I am a rookie here, been on for just a fee days, but i agree with you. This is one way to build followers and community, which are generally interested in what you have to say.
I have a couple of questions regarding this matter. Is there any way to create a community or a topic, or we have to do it using tags.
My daily work is in conatruction, i could give people advices, or show them the proper ways to paint or how to install a window, a door, or maybe kitchen cabinets.
My hobby is graphic and web design. I could show people how to build a site or an e-shop, or how to grow their followers and sales... But how i do that? I havent seen a topic about such stuff.
However, upvoted and subscribed and resteemed.
Cheers, @gbenga
Envy and jealousy kill creativity making one think in a cliché way. The suggested remedy can open new horizons to be aware of the value of community from the beginning. I’ve heard it before but didn’t pay enough attention, I am afraid.
creating your own trusted followers who would upvote your post for the type of content you have is better than having millions of followers who do not care about your post
When some of Steemians are devoted to each other to support any inside community content can’t it be harmful to the quality..?
i do not say you should not write quality contents, i only advice that you build a community so your contents could be read by significant set of people instead of not getting any attention at all. thanks for your contribution
everything is true here....you gotta be like a horse with his blinders on, and not worry about other peoples journey. Just do you, and keep consistent and people will follow.
i really appreciate you mentioned consistency in your comment. consistency is the key
Indeed.. Sometimes we must used that envy to to be more consistent..
Creating a community is a great idea..
envy destroys more than making.... thanks for contributing, really appreciate
It is.. Your right..
But, i also see it in reality that using it in positive way..
I like this post :) very good :)

you r welcome and do visit my blog to check today's post!!
you should trust i'll do that
It was just a gentle reminder, i hope you don't mind.
no problem pal
The topics in your post touch on points that are crucial to new steemians. We need to support accounts of all sizes to make this community grow. There's no need to waste energy being jealous of the early adapters who have sizable payouts. They've put in a lot of effort to get where they are. Compare yourself to yourself. Upvoted & followed.
thanks for your contribution.... i totally agree with you on that.... thanks
