So I saw the article and the video of this when it first started go around. According the the photographer the woman was the step mother. First off the photographer did not elbow her in the face. Second according to the bride and the photographer the step mother apparently though the photographer was not doing her job well enough and decided she would take the photos because she could do a better job. Afterward the bride was actually happy that the photographer shoved the step mom out of the way since she was hired to photograph the wedding.
While I do agree that when you have the ability to ask a guest at a wedding or an event to please move over or step aside you should but in a split second moment you have to move people out of the way the best you can. You can clearly see the step mom not stand next to the photographer but get in front of her and in a quick moment to get the right show you don't have time to stop and ask her to please move over you have to get the shot.
In this case I am 100% with the photographer and think she did what she had to in order to do her job. Thats my take on it.

To me they both are in the wrong there is not need to either to react the way they did. The photographer is allowing herself to be wound up; as you say the photographer could have simply asked and manners are free.
