Theoretical communication and advocacy.
Therapeutic communication is the communication that encourages the healing process of the client (MOH RI, 1997). In another sense it is said that therapeutic communication is a process used by nurses who are walking consciously, specifically and its activities are centered on the client. To overcome the therapeutic communication barrier, the nurse must be prepared to express a very strong emotional feeling in the context of the nurse-client relationship (Hamid, 1998). Grief, the nurse must have knowledge of the therapeutic communication barriers and behaviors that indicate these obstacles. Stuart G.W. (1998), therapeutic communication is the interpesonal relationship between the midwife and the patient, in this connection the midwife and the patient gain a shared learning experience in order to improve the patient's emotional experience.
According to Stuart, therapeutic goals are directed at client growth, as follows:
? Self-realization, self-acceptance and self-respect.
? Clear identity and self.
? Ability to build intimate, interdependent and loving interpersonal relationships.
? Improved function and ability.
According to the rhetorical expert (Foss and Foss, et al: 1980) advocacy is defined as a persuasion effort that includes activities: awareness, rationalization, argumentation and recommendations of follow-up on something.
According to Hopkins (1990) advocacy is an attempt to advance public policy through various forms of persuasive communication. From some of these records can be summed up briefly, namely advocacy is an effort or process to obtain a commitment made persuasively by using accurate and precise information.
From various things above can be concluded that all communication activities can be established both and indirectly can change the paradigm that is stimulated to the target communication.
2.Ilustration case:
Communication of a psychiatrist to a child with hemophilia, a theurvey of communication takes place like this: "Son, you can tell me everything you feel, and think of me as your diary book" (cultivate sympathy and suggestion) whereas,
advocacy communications such as: "When sick we have to rise up against the disease, God will give healing for you kid!" (advocating for healing). Of this all activities include persuasive aspects.
