Omise signs agreement with Thai government
Omise announced that they have signed memornadum of understranding (MOU) with the Thai government agency ETDA ( ELECTRONIC TRANSACTIONS DEVELOPMENT AGENCY ) for national Know-Your-Customer eKYC portal development using blockchain. I assume they're talking about OmiseGo of course!
This is about establishing a national ID system that's digital. Currently the tor bor "household" ID system gives ID cards to each Thai citizen based on household register. It works surprisingly well somehow, but a next-gen digital system will have some huge advantages. Omise, pronounced Japanese -style as oh-mee-say, is a well established player in the region who knows the Thai market and already works with many national companies.
