The most breathtaking experience - Humpback whales - 1 meters away!

Yesterday was the most breathtaking day of my life. I booked a last minute boat out to the Great Barrier Reef, to spend the day snorkeling, but little did I know I would get more than I bargained for!

We left at 7 a.m., just in time to watch the sunrise over the beautiful big ocean. The boat was small, with only 10 people on it. Which was perfect.

10 minutes after leaving the sure, we see too big humpback whales around 300 metres away in the distance. We slowly drive closer, and stop at about 100 metres away! At this stage I was so excited and already feeling on top of the world! They were doing their own thing, swimming their paths when all of a sudden their bodies turned... They started swimming towards us! They disappeared deep down under the ocean, and we didn't know where they were, until suddenly, there was a great splash at the side of the boat! They slept at tools and breach right near us..!!! They were no more than 2 minutes away.. 1 metre away! It was amazing. The two beautiful Wales spent 10 minutes swimming under around and near the boat, playfully saying hello, before continuing their way and swimming on.

What an incredible start to the day :-)
