You control your attitude.

I was sitting in the canteen today on my break. Legs up, reading the daily paper like I do everyday. ( Sports first, into the problem pages. Then flip to the front and scan the news a small bit.) You have to read the important parts first.

One of the girls walks in after her shift ended and looks at me to say, "You look awful relaxed." Which I was to be fair. She would be a very bubbly girl probably mid 20's and yet she though that i was the carefree one. The next thing that she said was "I love your attitude in life".

Now to be fair, I've been in the same job going on 11 years and have made it fairly handy for myself. I can do most parts of it with my brain fully switched off. There is more chance that I'm thinking about STEEM during my daily orders than my actual orders. Don't worry, they tend to be fairly good orders regardless of my lack of attention. I'm good with numbers and can do the math faster than the handheld if i used it the way it was intended.

Off topic anyway.

So I told her what I like to say to people anyway, "Life is easy. Why wouldn't I be relaxed."

Just for reference I have the classically morbid Irish sense of humor where everything is a joke. As the old saying goes.

The Irish are only happy when they have something to be miserable about.

I'm always being sarcastic and making jokes about life in general and everything that happens on a daily basis. I feel it's been a waste of my day if there aren't at least a few sarcastic and inappropriate comments make along the way. I'm fully against political correctness and think that people get offended far too easily. No wonder everybody is so miserable when they spend their life worrying about what other people are saying.

So when she said back to me, "life isn't simple. I worry about everything, everyday." There was the problem straight away. I don't honestly believe that life is simple as it can be far from it. What I do believe is that people over-complicate it when there is no need.

You are the only person in charge of your attitude.

If you are worried about what others think then you are in trouble straight away. Most of them outside your inner circle are totally irrelevant in the long run. Don't worry about them. Don't think about them and for the love of god don't let them get into your head. That is how you make life simple.

Your attitude is your own and can be changed. If you are really determined to enjoy life then you have to match your attitude to that path. It's not easy but can be done. Keep things simple. Don't worry about things out of your control and just make the next right choice.
