The world is very unpredictable with death being so inevitable. Nature's wrath can be very destructive that some of us reached our breaking point. The odds and challenges against any survival situations can be very fatal that makes us surrender but some will rise to the occasion and survived what it seems to be the impossible.

Last night, I was really not in my element. I was jus having a hard time with my project research paper. So I decided to watch a movie that would help me lift up my spirit. After scrolling for a while, i decided to watch "The Impossible".

The movie poster really catches my attention the moment I saw it. So without hesitation I downloaded and watched the film last night. After watching the film, I have to say it was definitely a blasts. It was worth-watching and great quality film with that, yes I decided to have a movie review.

The Impossible

The movie was released on 2012 with the genre of disaster drama film. The movie was based on the real-life experienced of Maria Belen and her entire family while on a Christmas holiday who experienced the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
The film was distributed by Warner Bros. Spain and was Directed by J.A. Bayona. It was a well-received film and was given several international awards and recognition. Positive responses and reviews from the audience were also acclaimed by the film.

The Plot

The film was 1 hour and 53 minutes. In the beginning of the film, Maria and Henry, a Spanish couple brought their 3 sons, Lucas who was the eldest, Thomas and Simon Benneth for a Christmas break in 2004 somewhere in Thailand. When the family arrived in Thailand, they enjoy their much needed break in New Orchid beach resorts. The family was on their 3rd day when the massive 2004 tsunami inundated the area. The aftermath of the scary tsunami led to the separation of the family with Maria and Lucas ended up together in e swirling water wi one another. Maria was struggling as she she sustained 2 injuries specifically in her right leg and her breast area. While Henry was able to save his 2 younger sons and eventually left them to the other family in quests of finding Maria and Lucas. It took many days searching that he almost thought of giving up. It was a long struggle from r the family before they found each other. Tears were all over when the family was reunited again. Maria undergoes operation together with the other patients that moment. The movie ended with the family boarded an ambulance airplane to Singapore for Maria's further medication. Maria looks out at the window of the plane and reminisced her experiences.

Casts

Naomi Watts as Maria Benneth
I have to say Naomi Watts was phenomenal! She was consistent from start to finish and embodies her role the way we wanted it to be. Her portrayal as Doctor and A mother was a difficult role but she delivered her role with conviction and very realistic. Her role had leads the several awards in acting including few nominations from the Golden Globe Awards.

Ewan McGregor as Henry Benneth
His role was challenging to be honest with but McGregor was just the perfect epitome for his role as the father. His acting prowess was just superb. One of the lines that he said makes me teary. His acting skills was greatly challenged but he was able to do more than what we expected.

Tom Holland as Lucas Benneth
This young boy can act! He surprised me the most. Holland was given a big role with a lot of challenging scenes and lines but he did it like a veteran. His facial expressions was just on point. Him crying on screen breoke my heart. Clearly bright fixture for this brilliant young actor.

Samuel Joslin and Oaklee Pendergast as Thomas and Simon Benneth
Although they were a supporting casts, these two young actors left us in awe. They were very effective when they where in a heavy scenes. Although limited screen time, their skills was enough for the audience to remember them.

Overall, the casts were just perfect for this dramatic film. It was a complete harmony and everyone was able to depict and compliments each other's role. Even the supporting casts were able to stand out. The casts gave the audience a huge charge of roller coaster emotions.

Flaws

Although I considered it one of the best films, I can see very little flaws like the movie gets a bit heavy-handed at times that some of the scenes where not emphasized for the context of mass destruction. Another thing is that the movie heavily focused on the European or Westerner victims and emphasized less the Asians specifically the Thai people who were completely doomed. But nonetheless, the cinematography was very commendable, perfectly shot , kudos to the director and entire production for using and filming on authentic locations.

Oh there were many strong moments I consider to be really great. But the photos above was exceptional! That was the scene where Lucas and his father almost give up but miracles do happened when the two younger sons saw Lucas. This scene stands-out the most. The scene really captured great emotion upon the family was reunited again.

Lesson Learned

There are a lot of things you can learn from the movie. As I reflect to what I watched, Never give up and Dont lose your hope is the best thing you can grasp from it. Although faced with incredibly difficult odds, the family never gives up and lose faith that they can survived. This is one of things that we can apply in our daily lives. Problem are inevitable but he important thing is how we deal with it and to never surrender to what it seems impossible.
