Welcome to Vânăta Peek, România

One of my favorite movies is: “Good Will Hunting”. There is a park scene where Robin Williams, the therapist, tells Matt Damon, Will: “I can’t learn anything from you I can’t read in some fucking book; unless you want to talk about you, who you are, then I’m fascinated, I’m in”.

Following these words, my posts tagged with #travel or #travelfeed will never tell you how many rooms a caste has, the length of a river, the exact number of kilometers from point A to point B. You can find it on the internet, if you care so much to know precisely. I usually show through my pictures what and how I see, feel, live, touch.

There are a few places I miss and come back to from time to time. One of them is Vânăta Peek located in Latoriței Mountains (Vâlcea, România). Luckily, there are 2 things combined that I love here: both the people and the nature. We were hooked from the first visit. It was a cold and foggy November when we first arrived here. We liked each other and become friends with a family who owns a guest house called “Pensiunea Luminita”. The view and surroundings are spectacular.

I find it very interesting how he weather changes, up, on the mountain. One minute it’s pouring with rain, the other the sun is shining again. One minute you can’t see anything but a curtain of water, the other you can see the village down into the valley. After heavy rain in the morning, it was the perfect weather to hike in the afternoon. The flora and fauna are amazing this time of year and the wild strawberries are ripened. I think this is the best fruit ever. It’s a great feeling you get on the mountain, like, as they say, you can pet the clouds (or stars).
