The Mystery Of The Dissappearing Carrots Solved!

Hey everyone, nature truly is full of surprises, you know that you are in Africa when you wake up one morning to inspect your vegetable patch and there is a gorgeous Mountain Tortoise munching away at your heirloom prized multicolour Carrots, with honesty though, he can munch all he likes what a gorgeous little creature.

Initially one would think, slugs, ants, snails, birds any of the above and more eating my vegetables, a cute but sneaky wild Tortoise??? Not in my life. What a rare and lovely surprise this was I just love these animals!

Turns out this is what we call a 'BergSkilpad' or in English a Mountain Tortoise read more here as per wikipedia https://af.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bergskilpad

In the background you can see my very new vegetable patch with the small Carrots on which he has just had a delectable feast!

As you can see he is just a baby but for a wild animal rather tame and quiet happy for me to handle him, albeit a little shy.

What gorgeous photo's he let me take of him. My goal, ambition and dream, is to be able to afford a super cool professional camera with a fat zoom lens, to be able to take professional pictures of African Wildlife, lets hope I am able to achieve this in a year or less. I will be visiting National Parks and taking pics of everything from Elephants to Lions, Eagles to Fish to Snakes, be sure to stay tuned for that! Taking these re-invigorated me love and passion for Wildlife photography, I will definitely be doing more of this type of photography in the near future!

I truly have a passion for nature I think these pics are a testament to that, such a perfect specimen and what an honor to find him it was.

Which begs the question what did I do with him? I took him to my partner and landlord to inspect, he will show his young grandkids and then release back to the wild right where he belongs, maybe a little further from my vegetable garden though.
