Hermetic Amsterdam: The Ritman Library
we had an appointment with Mrs. Basten from Antwerpen. We checked and she was a former student but why she was here we didn't really know. But talking with her we found out she brought two interesting things. A very good idea: two found a special chair in Amsterdam and something even more rare: a large bag of money. Of course we wanted to know more what kind of chair should this be? And her idea turned out to be very interesting it should be about the undercurrent of religion, the undercurrents of philosophy and culture starting in Antiquity to the present. She had a genius interest in them. Hermetic philosophy is a historical current from Antiquity to the present. That derives its name from a mythical Legend teacher of wisdom Hermes Trismegistus. He supposedly lived in very ancient times in Egypt and many writings are attributed to him..about philosophy, religion and the Natural Sciences. I knew that in the European universities this field was poorly represented. Amsterdam was exactly the right place for many of these unorthodox opinions had been strongly present here. Certainly during the 17th century. The influence of this current on Western culture has been enormous but we still do not know enough about it. Are chair here in Amsterdam focuses on the Forgotten history of hermetic philosophy and everything that is connected with it. https://youtu.be/4Sk_5HZ60W0
the biblioteca philosophy hermetica is based in the city of Amsterdam for a reason. Ever since the celebrated Golden Age Amsterdam has been in the Vanguard of progress being one of the places where freedom of religion freedom of expression and freedom of the press thrives which has produced many testimonies of the enduring human Spirit.
