Cook Your Oats!- The Misconception About Eating An OatmealsteemCreated with Sketch.

in #oatmeal10 years ago (edited)

Have you seen anyone put raw oats in a bowl??  Then pour milk and yoghurt over it, and just eat it raw!

If you're someone who's doing this, I would advise you against it

And here's why:

1. A human body does not have the enzyme to entirely break oat's elements down to digestable size

2.Can cause stomach problems, even resulting in gastritis

3.Oats do not dissolve well in milk, which forces the stomach to dissolve it both separately, resulting in bloating and indigestion

The best solvent for most things in life is water.

So, By soaking, you are :

  • reducing inhibitors
  • reducing the acidity of the grain
  • adding the enzymatic force
  • beginning the sprouting process – food is becoming alive

In addition to soaking, cooking oats for as long as 15,20 mins will also increase breaking down the food to a state

where oats will become easier for us to swallow, the stomach to digest and if you add a bit of brown sugar, chocolate, bananas, all kinds of ground or whole nuts, sour cream for a creamier taste, it will disguise the monotonous and dry taste of a regular oatmeal, so you can keep on eating it on a daily/weekly basis.

The trick about this recipe is to cook it until the oat slime comes out of the coat,  so you are forced to add water, in order to avoid the oats going dry.Adding sour cream, after it's been soaked and cooked in water, is a way of  avoiding soaking it in milk.

Because almost all milk in stores has been boiled to UV temperatures to kill all living things in it, in order to prolong the expiry date, milk has almost no protein worth what so ever, and adding sour cream after the oats had already been soaked in the most essential element for our bodies, water, makes the oatmeal taste better, and our bodies intake it lot faster, than it would if we had cooked it with milk.

Make Your Own Cooked Recipe, Try It At Least Once, Compare Raw and Cooked and Tell Me About It

I have many personal oatmeal recipes, but mainly I would do it like this:

-soak 10min

-slowly cook and stir it while adding water,  all for about 20 mins, or until it's pudding like slimy

-add a bit of wheat meal, any kinds of ground nuts, a bit of bran, chocolate dust, bananas

-add bit of water

-stir

-add bit of water

-stir
