Nym: building the next generation privacy infrasctructure
Hi I'm Harry Halpin I'm the CEO and co-founder of Nym technologies, and we are the Switzerland based startup which is building the next generation of privacy enhancing infrastructure. And we'd like for you to join us on our mission to basically make privacy, part of the fundamental protocols of the web and this is a paradigm which we believe is as big as encryption itself.
When encryption came out, and the web when the web was first introduced people didn't know if it was gonna be dangerous or not but actually what TLS encryption allowed was ecommerce a whole range of startups like Amazon and eBay, and the next natural thing to come after encryption is privacy because privacy is effectively the thing which lets you hide, who is talking to who and that enables a whole other round of innovation, and we need it because there's very powerful adversaries watching our network, not just the NSA but increasingly private companies, including chainalysis and cyber criminals can watch your network traffic identify who you're talking to who you're sending Bitcoin to what, videos you're watching, and these metadata leakages on network level are not even stopped by encrypted messaging apps like signal or zero knowledge proof based systems like shield, Zcash, in fact, things that people think prevent these such as VPN, including these centralised VPNs and Tor, do not prevent identification and Deanonymisation by powerful adversaries that can watch the entire network and your ISP.
So the great thing is that, you know, we think parties is a huge market. We think that it will be at least worth at least 100 billion, and it will keep growing, with a high common and growth rate so it's even larger than markets like cryptocurrency cryptocurrency market and the VPN market.
Our team myself formulated MIT leading web standards at W3C Dave, our CTO sold his last company to Facebook held the lever and Claudia, our Chief Scientist The working on mixnet for last 20 years and did her PhD if he saw him so we think we came together with the Europe's largest r&d budget, and by the by Binance lab incubator, we're going to take it to the next level.
Our Solutions
And our solution is that we will combine a mix that which actually hides your traffic from traffic analysis with a token to make the system economics sustainable and that credential, which lets you be compliant with any needed regulations. So again the mix that adds multiple hops, just like a DVPN or Tor and scales like a web browser if he has more domain just add more nodes but we also had covered traffic or fake traffic and we mixed the traffic to obfuscate the timing.
So you can see compared to our competitors like the VPNs and TOR, we are actually eliminate the timing and volume information used at Deanonymize network traffic, our token is allows delegated staking we allow proof of mixing like a proof of work system to make sure you're doing your job as utility, which is value really is index, the value that users find from engaging and privacy enhanced services.
We enable private transactions via credential system which without KYC/AML and other kinds of compliance and proof that you own addresses and all sorts of great things, and it's fully decentralised, our system again, you get tokens or you get a credential display as a gateway you checked out double spending, you send your traffic through a mix that just like a VPN or Tor, and it comes out on the other side and lets you access your service provider, while defending you against anyone can be trying to snoop or watch on your traffic.
We have great partners currently binance blockchain has caused us the status, and we're in discussions with Swiss banks, the brave browser and all sorts of great folks, and we believe we're already established key traction we haven't spent anything in marketing where we have organically, a very large multi 1000 person community 200 devs, and most importantly 1500 node testnet that we're going to take to the next level. Later today, and our roadmap basically takes this testnet into production on Main net.
By the end of the summer, early fall and then we have a very clear plan to get even more institutional popular adoption, and I skimmed over a lot of stuff you can read the white paper look at the code and see videos of how we integrate today against Bitcoin you can even stream video over and down.
