NEW YORK CITY MARATHON 2018 (fun and laughs)
The NY Marathon is always a great day to go hang in New York. Yesterday was no exception! What a day - just perfect weather for the runners and for the spectators. Over 50,000 runners and hundreds of thousands of spectators.
Mr Gardenlady and the eldest gardendaughter have been running in this for years so as a spectator, I have the whole day figured out to a tee!
FIrst stop is Park Slope in Brooklyn along 4th avenue. Here's part of the scene...
On every other corner along the entire 26 mile route there are bands playing!!! It is indeed a party atmosphere that keeps the runners spirits high! You can see the sea of runners beyond the wall of spectators.
Here is a steel drum in Brooklyn...
and here is a band from the area along 1st avenue in Manhattan around 83rd or 84th street. You can't even see the runners! (oh geez, sorry not to post this one...youtube just annoys me - i wont go into it)
At this point in the day, another gardendaughter and her friend plus an old friend of mine plus my sister had all gathered for the fun...we had one more spot to go cheer on the runners over in Central Park just off 5th avenue, BUT...
first things first....this happened along the way at a starbucks...had to have some hot cider with a "twist"....

lol....we made it to the next stop but by then, of course, I was just pocket-videoing! (see below - yes, that big laugh is mine!)
