Remains of Old NYC
As I wander the streets of NYC I often look up, or down or to the side & catch a glimpse of what used to make NYC so amazing & unique. Signage shoppes, storefronts, tenements, grand architecture & it always prompts me to snap a shot. Thee last vestiges of the heart & soul of NYC & America are now few & far between & are so quickly being replaced by copy cat glass & steel towers, huge developers pup up in a matter of a few months, never looking back & apparently never realizing their glass & steel high rise looks exactly like the one next to it & the one next to it etc etc
Now, when you look up from the street you can no longer tell if you're in Shanghai, Dubai or NYC - they all look the same
So, when I see hints & bits of what NYC & America used to look like, I grab an image, no matter how poor my little fuzzy camera captures it, I still grab it

Where I am from we don't even get these types of building with a long history, so many stories to be heard about that place I'm sure!!
So many....so much old magic....it makes me want to time-travel. Seeing these old signs & buildings as I meander the NYC streets feels as close to it as I'll probably get ~
I one day would love to travel to places where there are long histories like NY, I am from South Africa and unfortunately, this country has a quite short (recorded) history as opposed to just cities like NY!
