NXT Shoots Up Almost 50% After Bittrex Confirms IGNIS Airdrop Support
The upcoming airdrop for the IGNIS coins already made NXT rise steadily over the last couple of weeks. Now also Bittrex, one of the biggest altcoin exchanges, confirmed the participation in the airdrop.
On 28.12.2017 there will be a snapshot of all NXT holdings. For every 2 NXT you own, you will receive 1 IGNIS coin on the upcoming ARDOR platform. Free money, basically.
If you want to participate in the airdrop, I would not wait any longer. I expect the price to keep rising till the snapshot date.

Sorry for the delayed answer. I hope you participated in the snapshot :)
IGNIS will be distributed on the 01.01.2018 when the Ardor blockchain goes live (because IGNIS is a child chain of ardor). Regarding NXT, you have to decide on your own. I think NXT still has a lot of potential and is going to be supported for at least 3 more years. But it could enter a bearish trend now, after the snapshot. It's definitely a hodl coin, but if you want to play the market, you could sell now and buy in at a lower price (my target is 1000 satoshi). But as always, you don't know for sure.
