Why You Should Give A Shilajit

If you’re keeping up on the hippest natural cures that can be found in nature, then you may have heard of Shilajit (pronounced sheelageet)making it’s name more and more know in the natural healing realm (if not, don’t worry, that’s what this post is for). As fancy as the name sounds, Shilajit is actually a black, tarry mass that is found oozing out of the mountain crevas of the Himalayan range.

Shilajit, Sanskrit for, “rock conqueror” is a nutrient-rich powerhouse of health benefits. Shilajit is packed with fulvic acid, which is the main substances responsible for energy production within the cell.(1) Fulvic Acid is the element found in humus, the highly nutritious layer of the earth. It is this layer that feeds plants, which makes sure that they grow strong and healthy. Fulvic Acid is created in extremely small amounts by millions of beneficial microbes that work on the decaying plant matter. Fulvic Acid works to activate the nutrients within soil so that the cells of plants can utilize them. It is often termed ‘nature’s miracle molecule’ and for good reason. Modern farming practices have destroyed our soils, leaving them devoid of minerals, and we have to find other ways to ensure we consume them on a regular basis.

In a nutshell, Shilajit’s many benefits include:
• Boosting Energy
• Mental – Mood booster and increasing memory
• Helps to balanced blood sugar
• Aids in effective detoxification
• Helps to aid in the aging process and rejuvenation
• Protects Your Heart.
• Strengthens you bones

Shilajit also supports energy production. In one study, participants took just 200mg of Shilajit each day for 15 days and the available energy in their blood after vigorous exercise was equivalent to the levels of available energy before starting exercise. (2)

Yet another (huge) benefit of Shilajit is that it enhance whatever you take it with.(3) With that, there are some great synergistic products out there that contain Shilajit, so that it helps to boost the other compounds.

Now as you run out to buy some products, make sure that they are in fact, shil –legit. It should not be solid at room temperature, should taste bitter, have a brownish-blackish color and melt in your hand (and your mouth).
