Trial Run

Last night I decided to try Dr. Hyman’s Whole-Food Protein Shake before I started his 10-Day Detox on Tuesday.  When you try it, please do not think that it is going to taste like the smoothies from any of those well-known smoothie shops that we all have enjoyed.  It is not that in the least.  Remember, there is no sweetness, except the natural sweetness from the berries.  However; I was absolutely made full, as his shake and smoothie recipes involve real foods, such as avocado, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, almond butter, etc.  Because of his obviously studied recipe concoctions, I was delightfully surprised by how much I am certain I will be satisfied for my morning meals.  I felt healthier, AND full indeed.  Your taste buds will most likely adjust to healthier foods becoming more delightful to your taste, but it will not happen the first couple of days, I am pretty certain.

I had planned my usual night snack for after wanting to “try out” Dr. Hyman’s protein shake, and let me frankly say that I did not even enjoy one of my usual favorite snacks (a sweet and salty snack)…..yum!….usually…..BUT, I will tell you this, not only did I not enjoy one of my absolutely favorite junk foods last night, my stomach didn’t agree too well to the blend either.  

Understand I just had this tremendously healthy protein shake, and then indulged in my “usual junk food treat” a little while after.   Don’t do what I did.  So, if you want to try one Dr. Hyman’s protein shake out before your actual 10-Day detox begins, don’t combine your usual “junk treats” anywhere close to it.  Uuughh, I tell you.  :-P Some fun-time health learning of self is about to begin!
