What were the silver coins of pirates.
Many watched movies about pirates, but not many saw what could be pirated coins.
In my collection of coins, there is one coin that quite could hold in the hands of not one pirate.
This is a silver makukin worth 8 reals of the period of Philip III of Spain (1578-1621). It is minted in the Spanish colonies in South America and weighs about 27 grams.
On the way from America to Europe, such coins often fell into the hands of pirates and were their main source of income.
Eventually she got to Europe and became a full participant in the monetary turnover of different countries.
I found this coin in eastern Europe in the form of a treasure with other coins using a metal detector.

nice detecting work. I would love to do some European detecting some day! I only ever find modern coins and broken toys.
This is an exciting activity. Try to look elsewhere, especially in old forests.
