[CR] "Poor man's and rich man's food"
Hello everybody! I continue to draw my collection of drawings about "Poor man's and rich man's food."
Today I drawed composition with chestnuts, home freshly baked bun and old sifter for flour.
Chestnuts - plants are very ancient, known in Italy since prehistoric times.
They was brought to Europe came from Asia Minor and Algeria.
In some parts of France, the chestnut was called "bread fruit" or "bread of the poor": before the appearance of potatoes, chestnut fruits were the most accessible food of the poor. They were fried, soups were made from them. And from dried chestnuts were doing flour and baking bread.
Chestnuts in Corsica were especially flourishing- even in the Middle Ages, the Genoese, who then owned the island, forced peasants to plant chestnut trees on the slopes of the mountains, and subsequently the harvest of nuts more than once saved the islanders from death.
Chestnuts even became a Corsica currency: till now before wedding the family of the bride should expose on a table 22 various dishes from chestnuts and chestnut flour - in the proof of opulence
On the eve of the Day of All Saints Corsicans put milk and chestnuts on the window - for the spirits that returned on this magic night.
In North America, the autumn harvest of chestnuts was an important part of the stock of products for the winter. Indians usually grinded nuts to flour, which was then consumed in pure form or used in a mixture with other products. One of the typical dishes of Indian cuisine - a hot soup of chestnuts, to taste reminiscent of ... coffee.

In an ordinary food, you made an art work. Rich man or poor man, it doesn't matter. It is an awesome art work. Fascinating ~
