If you are finding it difficult to draw a portrait picture right by your find which you find interesting, this guide is for you. It doesn't matter whether you are an amateur or you haven't sketched before. So far you have interest in doing it, you are good to go.

This is a simple way to create a portrait with a pen using a freehand technique. You can also use a pencil for this if you are not conversant with pen. Use a plain sheet. Here I used a simple cardboard paper.

You don't necessarily need to get the exact face, what matters is that you have drawn something! With time, you will be getting better results.

Step 1
Draw an egg-like shape.
Divide the shape into two from up to down.
Make 3 horizontal lines. One for the eye, one for the nose and the other for the mouth.

Step 2

Start adding the shapes of your model using those lines.
Always make sure you compare and contrast the reference photo with what you are sketching.
When satisfied, you move to another stage.

Step 3

Start adding forms and textures.
You can use any technique you like. Here I used cross-hatching.
Focus more on the darker areas and work from left to right.
Move from dark tone to high light.

Step 4

The final stage.
Work on the neck.
Also, work on the cloth.
Go back to the face and do some finishing touches.

That's it.
Thank you for your time.

Great turorial!!
I think art is up to 90% only technical skill. And the rest is talent :)

I will mention this tutorial in my next Steempearls! #steempearls
Have a great day :)

Yeah, but most people think art is more of talent. It is just just the other way round. Even talented people understand that if they don't practice, they wont get better.

Thanks for the mention.
