His real name was Juan Moreno and Herrera Jimenez, he was born on July 30, 1948 in Casablanca, Morocco. His parents were Andalusian Spaniards who moved to North Africa to find a job and escape the dictatorship of Francisco Franco. Jean moved to France at the age of seventeen and studied acting at the dramatic Cours d'art in Paris.
