Horca del Inca - Light Painting at 4000m Altitude

Breathtaking views!

But i guess half of the effect is coming from the fact that we had to get up to 4000m+ in altitude. This shooting became kind of a training camp for athletes. Yet i went home with a few nice light paintings that i shared here some time ago.

This particular shot iam sharing today is a 77 second long single exposure taken at ISO100 with F6.3. At first i created the Circle of light with an acrylic circular light blade from LightPaintingParadise, then i lit up the environment with a bigger torch. Here simplicity wins over complex fancy light effects.

Whats that spot again? Horca del Inca or Pachakata

Is a pre-Incan astronomical observatory located on the Bolivian side of Lake Titicaca in Copacabana, a known area and departure base for most tours related to Inca culture.

The megalithic work was wrongly named as “Inca Gallow” and only in the 70s a researcher discovered its real purpose: solstice, the sun beams light through the lintel of the thrilictic structure, marking the Ayamara New Year. 7 structures used to be in place the for astronomical studies, this the last one remaining standing. In fact, Pachakata in Aymara language means “place to measure time”

If you interested you can also watch the Location Check video i made. The spot is incredible for photogrpahy.
