This ain't rocket science. Never mind that "living wage" is a meaningless term, and intentionally so because if that is the standard the powerful people who are pulling your strings will ALWAYS be able to move the goalposts in order to convince you to enslave yourself to them just a little bit more.
If labor costs more, EVERYTHING costs more because labor is the largest individual expense in business.
Responding to reality =/= being a dick.

and how, despite my emotions about said system..its still all very accurate.
A living wage basically means able to pay your rent and feed yourself. All you have to do to figure it out is look at how much rent is how much food costs etc etc..and you can see that even $15/hr CND is pretty freakin terrible XD
So the fact that corporations are acting put out by this when the system allows them to make SO MUCH $ off underpaid workers..sickens me. and makes me emotional, as it should you.
Since we all NEED a job regardless of skill level, minimum wage should cover all your minimums..not leave you struggling to support yourself with no time to find more work since you're already trying to get by with $15/hr 40 hrs a week [ if you're lucky. In Canada we getting all p/t hours now..suckkkss]
On top of this, Tim Hortons Franchises literally made it so said employees were making LESS after the minimum wage raise. That's fucked no matter HOW you look at it.....like less than BEFORE THE HIKE. IS THAT NOT SICK OR...????

And indeed if labour costs more blah blah..except these companies are already getting tax breaks and making money hand over fist for doing nothing. I'm sorry your bottom line is now fucked and you can't make even more money this year but...fuck you. This is wage slavery and the very problem with late stage capitalism.
