Holiday shoot w/ Miss Kacie Marie! *NSFW*

Merry Christmas, Steemians! I'm currently at 30,000 feet, flying from Philadelphia back to Minneapolis after a ten day east coast photography tour. My son came with me to visit family before the holidays. My first shoot was in Scranton, PA hours after landing [...something I often try to avoid]. The following day, I was off to NYC for three days of back to back shoots. Saturday, specifically, I fully realized the worth of my Apple Watch investment earlier this summer. Three shoots, starting in SoHo at 8:00a.m., followed by midtown in the afternoon, and ending in Queens during the evening, left me at nearly 10 miles and 20,000 steps of travel.

This holiday season in NYC reminded me of one of my favorite shoots I've yet to share here on Steemit. Miss Kacie Marie was on my radar for quite a while before we made plans to shoot. She's one of those models that radiates creativity, far beyond being in front of the camera. She's an artist, an accomplished musician and an actress. Even her SnapChats of random puddles and leaves blowing are captivating and emotional. As such, she has extraordinary taste in the photographers she chooses to work with, so I was humbled when she approached me about collaborating.

Kacie arrived at SlapBack, a retro/pinup store in Brooklyn, hair and make-up ready. She brought several outfits and Renee, the owners of SlapBack, gave us dozens of vintage options off the shelves and hangers. I immediately knew we were going to have outstanding photos by the end of the night. Within the first few frames, Kacie had begun to channel this ethereal persona, like a characters in her mind. She moved slow and gracefully, spilling across the red sofa. I was firing off photos every few second, not wanting to miss that perfect frame.

We changed outfits and made our way to the store front, where Renee had created a beautiful facade, complete with a decorated tree. Often known for my usual poses and lighting, I made her climb in front of the tree, against the glass and lit her with a small desk lamp and the ambient street lights and traffic outside the store. 

We continued to make our way around SlapBack, pulling bird cage veils from the wall and other wardrobe accessories. We wrapped up shooting after an hour or so, and said our thank you's and good bye's to SlapBack. A quick walk down the street to a diner and Kacie and I shared stories from our favorite shoots and time in Philadelphia [...her home town].

The editorial we shot went on to make the cover of Pinup Up Alternative magazine. Kacie Marie and I have since become good friends and we shot again with a very sexy shoot in Central Park, NY, which I'll share here on Steemit eventually.
