Aboriginal Sub Incision

I didn't know this.

It is interesting but not all people would want to know. So, NSFW.

Some Aboriginal tribes in Australia perform circumcision.

The origination of it is always under speculation, considering that Aborigines have resided in Australia for thousands of years.

It could have migrated from Indonesia, but I guess, circumcision was a rite of passage for many Ancient cultures.

The slight difference to the normal penile snip, is the act of Sub Incision & Ritual.

From my light readings;

Reason for Sub-Incision is unknown - some say it is to prevent disease, keep population low as impregnation chances would be reduced, empathise with a woman's menstruation, make the penis redder, make it broader... and so on - all dependent on who is explaining or who is interpreting the process.

Some interesting notes;

"The young man is seated on rock while his penis is split open with a stone knife along its full length on the underside. The penis, once split open, is pressed flat against the rock on which the young man is sitting. The Aboriginals explained that this is done in order to make it “lighter and more beautiful"."

"North-western tribes circumcise, and they believe the foreskin turns into a bat (it is elastic like a bat's wing), a symbol of death, because the initiation is seen as a kind of death. You may say that is "primitive", but very similar imagery is used when nuns prostrate themselves, "dying to this world," (and looking very like bats!) to take their vows."

The boy then eats his own foreskin. The boy becomes a man.
The ceremonial language needs to be learned. If a woman eavesdrops then they will be killed.
This amazing bringing together of a tribe. I don't think a bond can be made greater than the emotion, physical trauma, verbal language, ceremony, ceremonial fires and hierarchy - that makes the group all focused on a common element.

One thing about barbarous acts is that you never forget them. It is clear cut hard coding through the human psyche.

I hope you enjoy this meandering. Humanity has many layers.

Sort:

The Australian Aboriginals had many rituals and practices which the politically correct ignore. They are sickening and barbaric. I won't go into any details but I will say this, I am glad they are no longer practiced.
