Now Playing: Week 5 [Jeff Rosenstock]

in #nowplaying6 years ago (edited)

Artist: Jeff Rosenstock
Song: Nausea
Released: 2015
Genre: Punk rock / indie rock

It was only about 2 years ago when I discovered punk legend Jeff Rosenstock. His track Nausea got instantly stuck in my mind for days because of its upbeat melody and catchy chorus. It is however, much like many of Jeff's other songs, not a song about being happy or upbeat. Mr. Rosenstock has a unique talent in crafting punky yet powerful songs about life's eternal struggles. Watch it here:

Nausea is featured on the 2015 album We Cool?. Some of the other highlights of this album include Hey Allison! and the brilliant yet depressing You, In Weird cities.

Jeff has since then released an even better album, Worry.. The second half of this album is made up of 8 tracks that are almost all under 2 minutes long, and in my opinion combined are one of the best 'album-second-halfs' I've ever heard.

The start of 2018 also marked the release of Jeff's latest album Post-, a powerful album that features songs "chiefly concerned with losing hope in your country, yourself, and those around you".

Besides his solo work, Jeff Rosenstock was also the lead singer of the ska punk band The Arrogant Sons of Bitches, the musical collective Bomb the Music Industry! and the indie rock band Kudrow

Thanks for entering this week's #nowplaying!

Good to be a part of it! :) I'm planning to post a #nowplaying every week now...

Glad to hear it! I wonder what Jeff Rosenstock would think of steem. Seems like his kinda mentality.

That's a very good question! I agree, I feel like he would be quite supportive. May have to ask him ;)
