RE: Now Playing Week 31 - Good Blunt Music
George Clinton is amazing. I got to open for him in San Francisco at the Exotic Erotic Ball once. He has produced or played on many records for decades and along with James Brown invented funk.
He produced Freaky Styley by Red Hot Chili Peppers, played in Parliament Funkadelic who are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, produced countless movie and TV soundtracks, and is still inspiring musicians and still playing and producing today.
You can hear his influence and even his songs reinterpreted, sampled, or outright stolen on everyone from Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy, '911 Is A Joke, Snoop Doggy Dogg, 'Who Am I (What's My Name)?, Warren G feat. Nate Dogg, 'Regulate' (1994), samples Parliament's 'Mothership Connection (Star Child), De La Soul, 'Me, Myself and I' (1989), samples Funkadelic's '(Not Just) Knee Deep.
