Now Playing Week #22 Daniel Rossen

Daniel Rossen is a performer i highly admire. He currently is a band member of Grizzly Bear who stem from brooklyn New york city. He plays guitar and sings. His voice is particularly remarkable in both timbre and grit of character. I would go so far as to say he has the voice that speaks for a generation. I first heard him in his earlier band called the Department of eagles. This is a live presentation of his song ‘In Ear park’ off the album of the same name:

That says alot. The music is rock and roll. Some would call it Beatlesque or psychedelic folk. To me the album with its eloquent open string tunings and other worldly chord progressions does something that the trajectory of rock and roll as a whole had been missing. It casts a spell of the hidden emotions that haunt loss and wonder.

Grizzly Bear kicks ass too. They will be coming to Columbia, Missouri this month June 26th for the street festivals.
