Wasted Days and Wasted Nights and a Rhinestone CowboysteemCreated with Sketch.

When I was a little boy, I guess I listened to a lot of country music, because my two favorite songs back then are now classic country songs.

Wasted Days and Wasted Nights by Freddie Fender

Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell

I'm @runridefly, and I can remember singing both these songs to my mom while she would make my lunch back in the late 70s

Sort:

Rhinestone Cowboy by Glen Campbell was popular in the Philippines in the late 1970s and still being played in jukeboxes in the rural provinces. If I was singing it I'll be mocked as an old-fashioned country yokel in the modern cities.

@darthnava, you don't have to be a country boy to enjoy a quality song. Thank you my friend.

Right you are, buddy.

That's the trouble with "Moms". They will listen no matter how much your singing sucks! #Angels

@ramblinmind, my mom always told me I had talents, but singing wasn't one of them. Thank you for the support.

I've been walking these streets so long..... (Ear worm)

I thought Rhinestone Cowboy was before late 70s.

@ace108, it was 1975 and I can remember singing it before 78, so I'm thinking it got a lot of tv and radio play in the in the late 70s.

Dude. I am all over Rhinestone Cowboy. I was not a country music fan but that song was everywhere. For some reason, when I was around 7 it was my thing to always say "whoop de doo" whenever I heard the "I'm a Rhinestone Cowboy" part. My teenage aunts and uncles wanted to punch me in the face.

@hanshotfirst, you and I were both born in the the early 70s, so I'm sure a lot of young kids heard this song a lot. I can remember walking around my dad's place singing Rhinestone Cowboy before my parents divorced.
