Liberstad. What has been going on in Freedomland this summer? Video.

in #norway7 years ago

Liberstad (Norway) is a proposed private city on the southern tip of Norway based on the anarcho-capitalist principles of non-aggression and respect for private property. There is to be no city council or government.

Definitely an interesting idea. I was tempted to contribute doing their crowdsale but couldn't quite make the cashflow work for the risk taken. It is a fairly illiquid investment so any potential payoff is fairly longterm. Obviously, it isn't necessary to make a profit as you could treat it as a vacation spot but it seems quite far from the major transportation hubs in Norway. As a longterm interesting project I have to say I was very tempted though. I'm keenly following their developments and hope to see similar initiatives in the future.

Have a great day!

I wish good luck to that project. Building a new town is not an easy job, there are many public projects trying to do that like Masdar in Abu Dhabi and they have failed. On the other hand this project is much more modest and that is good, a slow start allows more flexibility to issue problems than trying to build thousand of apartments at once.

Here in Spain we have hundreds of abandoned willages and I would like to see initiatives like this on them. Unfortunately I think our government is too conservative for considering supporting this type of projects. The only think their closed minds are considering for fighting rural depopulation is to close city councils and merge towns.

Sounds very interesting, I am guessing you are familiar with Liberland? If not, definitely work looking up.

thanks! I've heard about it

I thought it was only in Algeria and African countries

Why should private property be respected? Are there anyany limits to the amount of private property one person can accumulate?
I'm an anarchist myself, and I believe in solidarity, sharing, andand cooperation.
With the wealth inequality we have now, owners of excessive wealth need protection from state violence. In an anarchist society without redistribution of wealth and equality, people will be taking matters into their own hands, and confiscate the wealth of greedy capitalists.
And rightly so.

What? You're not an anarchist if these are your opinions. You are advocating violence against so called "greedy" capitalists. Most rich people have aquired their money because of hard work or inheritance of parents who worked hard. It is absolutely dispicable to advocate violence towards them and confiscate the fruits of their labour. I'm not sure if you realize how much work and effort most rich people put in? And that most rich people have been poor most of their life. Me and my wife have been living like hobos for 15 years trying to build up a conglomerate. At 35 we're beginning to harvest the fruits of our hard labour. We've been creative, creating jobs, investing money into it and not taking anything out. We've been very good with out money and made good investments with the little we had. If things continue like this for another 10 years we will be RICH. And I will also most likely inherit money from my father who has been working to build up his business for 25 years. Spending all his free time, every evening and night working.

And then you want to come and steal our money because we are greedy. Do I understand you correctly?

Anarchism is about NON-VIOLENCE. The state is supposed to be there to protect me against villains like you. You have no right to confiscate any wealth from me. I have not stolen it from anyone.

You are a communist, because you don't believe in the basic principles of anarchism which is voluntarism, and the non-agression principle.

In an anarchist society you are free to create or join a communal society where you share the fruits of your labour. But you are not allowed to force anyone who doesnt want to participate into that society.

To be a real anarchist you must believe in unregulated free market, limited government (not interference other than protecting people from violence) and non aggression principle.

I'm not advocating violence, nor am I after your money. But your claims that I'm not an anarchist is pure ancap propaganda.
From Wikipedia:
While anti-statism is central,[11] anarchism specifically entails opposing authority or hierarchical organisation in the conduct of all human relations, including, but not limited to, the state system. Anarchism is usually considered an extreme left-wing ideology,[12][13] and much of anarchist economics and anarchist legal philosophy reflects anti-authoritarian interpretations of communism, collectivism, syndicalism, mutualism, or participatory economics.[14]
You believe that property is some kind of absolute moral right. It isn't. If you own a huge property, and farmland is needed, and you use it for recreation, it can be taken.
Not by force, but by simple occupation. If you don't use violence, then you can't stop people from taking the property that you wrongly claim to have a moral right to own.
Wealth is immoral when it is excessive.
I'm not advocating these means, I'm just saying that this migh happen.
I believe in making capitalism obsolete, not violent revolution. I'm a pacifist.

Don't get why this guy is in the crypto space. O.o Do you know the history of cryptocurrency?
