Norwegian fashion week - backstage, front row, and connecting with people
Two weeks ago I was in Oslo during the Norwegian fashion week, it was a mix of work, catching up, meeting old, and new friends, and networking.
I often tell people that the most important task to be in this business (behind the scene) is that you can lift more then 10 kg at least ;)
I arrived late in the evening so I only needed a simple room and checked in at a smart hotel, quite small even for a small person! But my work next day started 7! In the morning.. Yes I was tired, but also exited to help my good friend and designer Siv Elise Seland behind the brand iiS Woodling.
The main place for Oslo runway was at a place called Sentralen (an old bank building) but not all shows where there, but iiS was shown there.
My task was to assist Siv Elise and the stylist who had helped her with the show (I can truly say I was happy not to be in charge of this as a stylist, to work creative with so many styles... to much for me, I would have a heart attack ;)
Early in the morning! Trude and Anneline, I had not seen them in four years! I have been working with both of them before behind the scene. Anneline has great experience working with big fashion shows during New York fashion week.
Backstage to see if the hair and make- up on the models are according to the plan
For this show the models also got their hands done with inscription "alt er kjærleik" translate to "all is love " , at the end of the show they all raised their hands to show it to the audience .
It´s getting close to showtime, me running back to the showroom to get a couple more dresses, just a last minute change in the plan :)
I love the architecture of these old townhouses (but not the old elevators...:)
Hectic before start!
Some pictures from the show, it was not easy to take pictures because I only had my mobile (iPhone 6, broken now.. just got a new one, iPhone 7) and I also wanted to enjoy the show :) Underneath you can see the whole film of the show, I recommend to check it out! It was great, and also the music! No hectic music, only a really good drummer who plays at the opera house in Oslo, as some people commented on, it gave us the peace to just enjoy and really take a lokk at the clothes and styling <3.
After the show and lunch my part two of that day started. I finally got to meet a fellow greenfluncer, a stylist from Oslo who´s running a green lifestyle blog, Greenhouse by Anja Stang. We discovered each other on instagram, and she is also working with SoMe in a new company called SoBo Community. SoBo Community is the Norwegian digital rental platform for exclusive fashion.
At the end of september I will do public speaking together with the founder of this platform during Nordic Edge expo, a scandinavian smart city conference hosted in Stavanger.
We had a lot of getting to know, catching up talk to do and almost did not get to the next fashion show in time! We grabbed a cab, and had two different adresses on the map, and it was in the middle of rush time... We just had to laugh! Also I did not decide until the day before that I was going to the other shows, so I had no warranty that there was a place for me...
We ran in the doors for the show from FWSS (stand for fallwinterspringsummer) 30 sec before the show started! We got good seating front row and enjoyed the show :)
sporty stylish!
Before next show we had a little time before we jumped on the bus for press, bloggers and influencers . As I live in Stavanger I know little of the people in the business from Oslo so Anja introduced me to some of them. Here she is talking to one of them, found out that that wall was like Insta/blog friendly ;)
I also met a fashion journalist with some similarities, besides we both have space between our front teeth :) we are both so called GUCH (no itś not a Gucci thing;) Grown ups with Congential Heartdefects. Maybe I tell you more about my heart defect in another blogpost (it was only discovered when I was 31 years old and fixed one year later) Ellen has told her story in Norwegian Elle
In this picture we are on the roof top at the old tradtional hotel, Grand hotel in Oslo. Waiting for the next show to be held outdoors on the roof, by Veronica B Vallenes. I really love her soft stylish use of fabrics and colours. As before there was no place for me at this show either.. but just before it started I was given a place front row :) Lesson; always be fashionably late and you get the best seating ;)
Part three of that day ;) Meeting the rest of the team behind SoBo Community, we all had a long day working, so we went to eat some asian food, much needed after a long day, and a lunch in fashion style(not enough food...:)
Lucky me, the founder Anjali lives at a nice area nearby the city and had offered me to sleep in their apartment so that we could get to know each other better and plan some more before our public speaking together later this month.
And as I already mentioned I love those ols townhouses, and this is in great Jugend style.
I slep well, and the last stop before I was on my way back home was a shop called Just Fashion. I rally love the concept they have, slow luxury fashion! New luxury is knowing the story behind what you buy :)
This jacket! I looooooove it! Please do vote for this post and I will buy it, it´s expensive, but the designer custom mades it to suit the customer perfectly. Also the wool in this jacket is made in Norway (we have little of that in the norwegian designs today)
Clothes like this, that is what I call luxury! I would totally wear it out ;)
