PERSONAL: My drifting days are over
A couple of years ago I took a course to get a racing/drifting license, just for fun. After the practical part of it I was hooked. What a fantastic feeling of freedom, to be able to drive as fast as you want, with only a minimum of rules involved!
I had to get a car, and found a Nissan Silvia S14 with a clean SR20DET. My friends and me did some changes and it worked more than good enough for an amateur. After starting with drifting I also came to understand just how much beating a car actually can take.
Unfortunately my drifting career ended a lot earlier than I had wanted it to. The doctors found some junk on my spine, and that was it. No risky activities that can cause hard bumps to my body from now on. Boring...
Aw shit dude, that sucks big time. What’s wrong with your spine. I have been operated there already, took away a part of a disk. Then I have had another problem, lack of platelets in my blood.
I was naughty and still went skiing and drag racing 😈
Your viking blood flows strong! :D
Not my Viking blood, some other Viking donors 😉
Haha! Well, I they found some cysts on my spine, and they don't want to operate in danger of frackin up the nerves. Looks like theyre stable though, so hopefully they wont grow and start squeezing the nerves. 'Cause then they don't know what can happen. I really want to drift, since it is gives me the best feeling in the world. But it won't do my family any good if I end up in a wheelchair.
Yeah nasty stuff, my disk was so bad I couldn’t use one of my legs properly in the end. Luckily the operation went well. Get occasional back pain, just gotta be careful what I lift etc.
I got my race license last year, and this is the year I gear up! But drifting.... now that would be fun! And my little boy would love it!
Racing is great, but drifting? Not much that I can compare with the feeling of going sideways :) I guarantee your boy will love it @lighteater.
So sorry about the spine issues man! Your S14 looked awesome, I'd love to add and S chassis to my JDM collection one day. Do you still own it?
thanks @nelkeljdm. It's the perfect beginner car for sure:) Unfortunately I sold it. U should get one though! If possible the S13 (180SX with the SR20DET!)
I'm thinking about it, I need to buy my unicorn (Honda NSX) this year though so maybe next year... Sorry you sold it!
The NSX is awesome! Have you seen the Norwegian stunt driver Fredrik Sørlies video?
I've seen it, it's mad! Crazy how Motoharu Kurosawa in an NSX-R did a 8:03 around there and Fredrik did 08:06 with just coilovers
I didn't know that! Wow, that is impressing
