The house of Hønse-Lovisa

Hønse-Lovisa is a literary character for the book ''Ungen'' by the Norwegian author Oskar Braaten.Set in the 19th century Hønse-Lovisa takes care of the of children of unmarried mothers while they worked at a textile factory.
The film version of the book, produced in 1974, has this charming wooden house in the neighborhood of Sagene in Oslo, playing the role of Hønse-Lovisa's house.

In reality it had many roles.Built next to the Akerselve river it was first put to use for industrial purposes, later on to be used as workers dwellings.During the last one hundred years it has been mostly used as a residence for artists and today it functions as a cafe and gallery.
