God Odín

Odín (Norse Old Óðinn), also called Wotan or Woden, is considered the main god of Norse mythology and some Ethene religions.

Their role, like that of many Nordic gods, is complex. He is the god of wisdom, war and death. But he is also considered, albeit to a lesser extent, the god of magic, poetry, prophecy, victory and hunting.

Odin resides in the Asgard, in the palace of Valaskjálf, which he built for himself and where his throne, the Hliðskjálf, was located, from where he could observe what was happening in each of the nine worlds.1 In battle he wielded his spear, called Gungnir, and mounted his eight-legged horse, called Sleipnir.

He was the son of Bor and Giant, Bestla, brother of Vili and Vé, 2 husband of Frigg and father of many of the gods 3 such as Thor, Balder, Vidar and Váli. In the escáldica poetry is referred to him with infinity of kenningar and one of which is used to mention it is Allföðr ("father of all").

As the god of war, he was in charge of sending the Valkyries to collect the heroic warriors killed in battle, 5 the Einherjer, who sit next to him in the Valhalla where he presides over banquets. At the end of time Odin will guide the gods and men against the forces of chaos in the battle of the end of the world, the Ragnarök. In this battle the god will be killed and devoured by the fierce wolf Fenrir, who will be immediately killed by Vidar, who will tear his jaws and place one foot in the throat.
