Need Help with NLP

At my day job, we are investigating using Natural Language Processing to automate a task. The gist of this task is we have a long document that must conform to a number of much smaller components. To pass the document must contain a reference to of all the provided components. We are trying to discern the feasibility of replacing some, if not all, of these reviews with an automated system.

Now I have past experience with neural networks and I was initially heading down that route, but the more I thought about it, neural networks didn't seem like an ideal fit. So I started diving down into the depths of natural language processing and I'm learning there is a lot I don't know. Right now I am just struggling with asking the right questions, must less getting the right answers.

I'm throwing this post out there in case anybody who reads this might have access to or knowledge of a resource that would help me learn the basic of NLP or a tool that might help me accomplish this document analysis. Right now I'm suffering from too much information, so help to focus would be welcome. Thank you in advance.
