Don’t Laugh!
Once there was a man on earth,
who questioned his own self-worth;
He hid his pearly whites,
From killjoy parasites.
For laughter was banned by humanity,
Society was steeped in inanity,
The urge to smile grew steadily worse,
Laughter rebelling, about to burst,
One day he went to a zoo,
where the animals all started a coup.
“The only grim thing should be the reaper,
for smiling couldn’t get any cheaper.”
Squirrels pole dancing on a giraffe,
Brought the merest hint of a laugh;
Deers hounding hunters with glee,
is when merriment broke free.

The transition to the last stanza by means of the giraffe pole dancing squirrel will catch me off guard in the absolute best way every time I read this poem, @diebitch.
Glad we don't have a killjoy parasite problem here because this is the most fun to laugh along with. ^_^
