Night shift

The black and dusky sky falls
I crack the window open so I can hear the car's drag.
Another night
My partner is asleep next to me
I find comfort in the seats of the car, and try to doze off; but the coffee keeps me alert
Strange feeling being neither awake nor asleep
I'm going to close my eyes now
I hope the sky is a different color when I open them
